Manifold and metric in numerical solution of the quasi-static electromagnetic boundary value problems
Classical vector analysis is the predominant formalism used by engineers of computational electromagnetism, despite the fact that manifold as a theoretical concept has existed for a century. This paper discusses the benefits of manifolds over the traditional approach in practical problems of modelling. With a structural approach, it outlines the role and interdependence of coordinate systems, m...
متن کاملNumerical solution of variational problems via Haar wavelet quasilinearization technique
In this paper, a numerical solution based on Haar wavelet quasilinearization (HWQ) is used for finding the solution of nonlinear Euler-Lagrange equations which arise from the problems in calculus of variations. Some examples of variational problems are given and outcomes compared with exact solutions to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the method.
متن کاملNON-POLYNOMIAL SPLINE FOR THE NUMERICAL SOLUTION OF PROBLEMS IN CALCULUS OF VARIATIONS
A Class of new methods based on a septic non-polynomial spline function for the numerical solution of problems in calculus of variations is presented. The local truncation errors and the methods of order 2th, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th, and 12th, are obtained. The inverse of some band matrixes are obtained which are required in proving the convergence analysis of the presented method. Convergence anal...
متن کاملElectromagnetic exploration of the oceanic mantle
Electromagnetic exploration is a geophysical method for examining the Earth's interior through observations of natural or artificial electromagnetic field fluctuations. The method has been in practice for more than 70 years, and 40 years ago it was first applied to ocean areas. During the past few decades, there has been noticeable progress in the methods of instrumentation, data acquisition (o...
متن کاملTime-domain electromagnetic migration in the solution of inverse problems
Time-domain electromagnetic (TDEM) migration is based on downward extrapolation of the observed field in reverse time. In fact, the migrated EM field is the solution of the boundary-value problem for the adjoint Maxwell's equations. The important question is how this imaging technique can be related to the solution of the geoelectrical inverse problem. In this paper we introduce a new formulati...
